Hand drawn maps can represent so much more than directions. The Hand Drawn Map Association, started by Kris Harzinski, collates the drawings and has published the best in a book called From Here to There. He says that these scraps of paper “accidentally explore the importance of place, ephemera, and documentation” in people’s lives.
This map details injection sites in a girl’s legs to prevent repeat applications.
David James has launched his ‘outofprint’ website cataloging his work from 1988 – 2010. It includes some of the early music covers and posters, the longstanding Prada collaboration and creative direction for Another magazine.
He explains the thinking behind the projects in ‘idea evolution’ which is an honest and straightforward description of process. It’s hard to pick a favourite as there is so much good work, but this represented a turning point for David and the photographer Glen Luchford and the beginning of the campaigns.
He told me it wouldn’t be up permanently, so better take a look while it’s there.
