Very happy to have my picture of Theo Neilson chosen for the 2017 AOP Awards.
New story for SOMA magazine with styling by Georgina Hodson. A very wet shoot outside in the park. Amazing girls - Tali at D1, Harmony at Established & Sabine at IMG. Hair and makeup by Carol Brown at Terri Manduca.
Another shot from the Soma series Writer's block with Theo Neilson. Writers use all kinds of diversionary tactics to get ideas for plots and characters. Walking, running, bathing, riding on the bus and going out for coffee are all used to overcome a creative block. Writers like Stephen King Murakami and John Grisham swear by a fixed writing schedule though.
We shot with book lover and English undergraduate Theo Neilson for our Writer's Block story for Soma magazine. Theo took time out from his degree at Bristol to play the part of a young author who has run out of ideas.
I worked with stylist Georgina Hodson, groomer Julie Cooper and props stylist Emma Kay. See the series in the fashion section.
We shot Christopher Kane and his CEO Sarah Crook for The Times. He has a beautiful store in Mount Street designed by John Pawson. It is a classic Pawson light filled space with mirrors, sleek perspex shelves and a sweeping spiral staircase at the end of the store.
We shot Kim Hersov - stylist, designer and founder of fashion label Talitha, for the Times today. Harriet Walker asked three women about their game-changer pieces for the new season.
Kim chose an amazing Valentino bag and a jacket from her own collection. Anna Laub designs glasses and swimwear for her label Prism. Eve Kalinik is a nutritional therapist but has a fashion PR background. All three were quite sure of their style and added pieces to work with existing wardrobe.
Soma magazine Spring fashion issue is out.
We did a story with Silke at The Hive, Robertas at Select Models and David at Models 1. The story is loosely based on a fashion director. Over the two day shoot, we also made a film where we were able to intercut film from LFW.
We were commissioned to shoot a story for the Obsession issue. We based the idea on a girl who has OCD and likes to have everything ordered about her.
I partly researched the idea talking to the girls as I was casting for the story. It's amazing how many people have forms of OCD or have friends and family who use these actions as coping mechanisms.
Anna Murphy, fashion director at The Times, asked some well known stylish couples what they thought of their partners' fashion choices. We shot Charlie Polizzi and her restaurateur husband, Oliver Peyton. Writer, Anne-Celine Jaeger & her husband Cathal McAteer who co-owns Folk clothing and The Communications Store founder, Julietta Dexter and her husband, Mungo Tennant. There were some disagreements - Oliver likes to wear colour and texture but his wife, Charlie only likes to wear black. Cathal owns and designs Folk Clothing so both he and Anne-Celine wear the label. Julietta represents clients Antonio Berardi, Roland Mouret and Erdem so she can pick pieces from their rails each season.Read More
We spent two long days filming and shooting campaign images with models Lucy at Next, Saska and Liandra at IMG. Great team including makeup artist, Kristina Vidic and hair stylist, Elvire Roux.It was windy in Dungeness so it was hard to control the girl's hair - best not to fight the weather - you can't win.Read More
I have been working with Sophie and Elsa at luxury fashion label, Merchant Archive. This film was made to showcase the Merchant Archive SS16 collection. It is inspired by the life and work of British sculptor Barbara Hepworth and The Colony she created in St Ives. We shot down in Dungeness which was an amazing backdrop for the shapes and fabrics in the Spring collection.Read More
I have been doing some portraits for The Times. London fashion designers Roksanda Ilincic, Emilia Wickstead and Mary Katrantzou chose their favourite women clients and spoke about their designs to Times fashion director, Anna Murphy. They want to make their clothes luxurious but not at the expense of movement and comfort. Roksanda says 'I want to create pieces that are not just beautiful and push at boundaries, but that are practical and empower women in the way they look and feel'.Polly Morgan - artist, Hikari Yokoyama - art advisor and Yana Peel - CEO all agreed they felt different when they wore beautiful clothes. Hikari says of Emilia Wickstead 'If you put on one of her dresses it is a transformation. You become a sophisticated version of yourself'.Read More
I have been working with Georgina Hodson and Felix Bischof on this series of portraits for a new on-line magazine, Something About. It's for the luxury section and I love the beautiful, but very plain styling that they put together. We used an amazing house for this shoot. There was an easy flow between adjoining rooms and natural materials - stone and wood - used throughout to give continuity to the design.Read More
