Forever Dolphin Love – Connan Mockasin
Thursday, June 30th, 2011I made a short video of Connan when I was shooting him for a feature in Soma magazine. I love his track Forever Dolphin Love which is 10 minutes long – I have cut it down for this video.
He works on collaborations as well as his own songs – recently writing with Charlotte Gainsbourg in Paris. Check out his videos.

Your rainbow panorama is a new permanent sculpture for the Art Museum in Aarhus, Denmark. Perched on top of the building, it is a huge, circular corridor of rainbow coloured glass panels which look out across the city. As your eyes adjust to the coloured glass, the 1cm strips between the panels appear to be the opposing colour in the colour circle. After-images are the sensation that Goethe wrote about in his Theory of Colour where colour effects the retina in response to what you have seen.
Other works include a room of multi-colour mist based on the RGB colour model but transforming to CMYK where the colours overlap.

This evening, Taryn Simon introduced A Living Man Declared Dead and Other Chapters at Tate Modern and talked about the ideas behind the portraits and text. Each bloodline required meticulous research and the most difficult to persuade were 2 feuding Brazilian families. The works are presented in a formal way with the text enclosed so that the artist retains control of all the elements. She loves making books and was very passionate about presenting the work in that form – 900 pages.
She was also nice enough to pose for me.
