First Spring

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Prada invited Yang Fudong to make a film to showcase their S/S 2010 menswear collection. First Spring, set in Shanghai, shows individuals in dreamlike sequences caught between the past and the present, they drift uncertain and confused. The multilayered imagery provides
a fascinating environment for the collection.

Yang, who trained as a painter and photographer, cites early Jim Jarmusch and French New Wave as influences. The film, like his other works, has an aesthetic of classic beauty and timelessness. Congratulations to CD David James.
